The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly planning to offer a long-term contract extension to Team India head coach Rahul Dravid. BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Saturday said that the talks on the tenure will be held after the South Africa tour.

“We did not have time. We met with them and mutually agreed that he can continue. Once they return from South Africa, we will sit with him and decide on the tenure,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in Mumbai.

According to reports, Dravid was initially offered an extension until the T20 World Cup 2024 in June due to a lack of time for an interim decision.

Notably, Dravid’s first stint as head coach was up to the ODI World Cup which concluded on November 19. There were multiple reports of the former cricketer not being keen to get an extension, it was put to rest after BCCI announced a contract extension for Dravid and other support staff.

Team India will kickstart their month-long tour to South Africa on December 10, Sunday. The Men in Blue will play 3 T20Is, followed by 3 ODIs and conclude the tour with a 2-match Test series.
