KL Rahul to miss Pakistan & Nepal games as he is not fit, confirm Rahul Dravid | Asia Cup 2023

Xtra Time Web Desk: Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid on Tuesday confirmed that KL Rahul will be missing the first two games in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 which gets underway from Wednesday, August 30. Rahul will not travel with the team to Sri Lanka, instead he will stay back at the National Cricket Academy to recover fully. The NCA medical staffs will further assess him on September 4 ahead of the Super 4 stages matches in Colombo.

“He’s had a really good week with us,” head coach Rahul Dravid said at the pre-departure press conference on Tuesday, 29 August. “Really done well, done a lot of things. He’s progressing really well on the route that we want to take.

“But he will be unavailable for the first part [of the Asia Cup], for the Kandy leg of the trip. The NCA will be looking after him for the next few days while we are travelling.

“We will reassess on 4 September and take it from there. But the signs are looking good and he’s progressing really well. He will be unavailable for the first two games.”

Meanwhile the Indian cricket team will leave for Colombo on the wee hours on Wednesday, August 30.
