For the Chicago Bears, the spotlight is on quarterback Justin Fields, who hasn’t really tapped into his potential yet after two seasons in the NFL.

Some feel very strongly that his third year will be a breakout campaign for him, in which he will become one of the league’s better signal-callers.

In fact, one executive said that there is no reason Fields can’t be a poor man’s Jalen Hurts.

But former player LeSean McCoy says the comparison is off-base and that Fields isn’t even in the same ballpark as Hurts, via “Speak” on FS1.

Perhaps one reason one may want to make such a comparison is the fact that in his first two pro seasons, Hurts struggled to be accurate with his passes and had lots of doubters.

But 2022 was the year in which he emerged as a star, and after taking the Eagles to the brink of a Super Bowl championship, no one is doubting him anymore.

So far in his career, Fields has completed just 59.7 percent of his passes and has thrown 24 touchdown passes against 21 interceptions while his Bears have won a combined nine games.

The reason some are still high on his potential is the fact that in two years at Ohio State University, he threw a combined 63 touchdown passes while keeping his interception rate low and posting a pass completion percentage in the high 60s.

This year, Fields will have the benefit of throwing the football to wide receiver DJ Moore, who has been one of the game’s more productive wideouts over the last few years.

But in the end, he will have to have the ability to be a lot more productive if Chicago is to make the playoffs.
