Penrith Panthers vs Brisbane Broncos player selections, injuries, latest updates, predictions, lineup; Reece Walsh, Herbie Farnworth training scare; Gerard Sutton axed after forward pass blunder, Adam Gee named as referee

Broncos coach Kevin Walters would’ve hoped to get through this morning’s session unscathed, and suddenly he’s got himself a few headaches.

Even if Herbie Farnworth and Reece Walsh are ruled fit to play Sunday’s grand final, the training drama is likely to bring a more intense spotlight onto the young Broncos.

It’s something that NRL great Billy Slater says they’ll have to manage.

“It’s a balance, and it’s a really important balance,” he told Wide World of Sports’ Billy Slater podcast.

“It’s not necessarily what you do, because you’re more likely to do more than less.

“It’s probably more about what you don’t do and where you put your energy because at the end of the day if you put your energy into stuff that doesn’t help you be at your best that’s going to contribute to absorbing some of the nervous energy throughout the week.”

Slater says Adam Reynolds and Kurt Capewell, who are both already premiership winners, are going to play big roles in the coming days as they look to settle their younger Broncos teammates.

“All the attention is on you, all the spotlight, there is a lot of attraction towards you and your team during the week,” he said.

“You need to absorb that and lean on that, but you also need to focus on what’s important and focus on the actions that are going to get you the result at the end of the day.

“It’s a really strong balance, but it’s about focusing on what’s important at the right time of the week.”
