Earlier in the week, the Minnesota Vikings placed one of their young wide receivers, Jalen Nailor, on injured reserve.

As a result, this left the Vikings with just four wide receivers on the active roster heading into Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers:

  • Justin Jefferson
  • Jordan Addison
  • K.J. Osborn
  • Brandon Powell

Instead of relying solely on this quartet, the Vikings decided to elevate extra receiver help from their practice squad for the weekend in the form of Trishton Jackson.

The Vikings announced the move via X (formerly Twitter), posting, “WR Trishton Jackson has been elevated to the active roster for #LACvsMIN.”

Jackson split his collegiate career at Michigan State and Syracuse, and during his final season with the Orange in 2019, he totaled an impressive 66 receptions for 1023 yards and 11 TDs. Following his four years in college, the wide receiver signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent.

Jackson was ultimately cut from the final 53-man roster in both 2020, but he stuck around on the practice squad, thus allowing him to spend his first season in the NFL with Kevin O’Connell as his offensive coordinator.

Following the 2020 season, Jackson signed with the Vikings where he has remained ever since. However, despite coming very close to making the final roster in each year, he has ultimately landed on the practice squad all three seasons in Minnesota.

As a result, Jackson is yet to make his regular season NFL debut. However, that could change this weekend with Minnesota being short on WR help heading into Week 3 against the Chargers.
