Roundup of the latest Championship action which saw changes at opposite ends of the table.

Jamie Vardy’s 67th minute penalty winner saw Leicester scrape past Bristol City at the King Power Stadium to move top of the table.

Ipswich sit second on goal difference following a dramatic 4-3 win over Blackburn at Portman Road, as Massimo Luongo struck a 79th minute winner after the Tractor Boys had let a 3-1 lead slip after half-time.

Preston slipped to third after Liam Lindsay’s 45th minute header rescued them a 1-1 draw at Rotherham, who had taken a 35th minute lead through Jordan Hugill against his former team.

Quick-fire first half goals from Aaron Connolly and Adama Traore saw Hull take a 3-1 away win at Stoke to climb to fourth, as Regan Slater’s deflected strick wrapped up victory before Andre Vidigal netted a consolatory goal for the Potters.

Sunderland slipped to fifth after Mark McGuinness headed in a 87th minute winner for Cardiff in a tightly fought contest on Wearside, less than 48 hours after Sunderland had hosted England’s opening UEFA Women’s Nations League win over Scotland.

Second-half goals from Joel Piroe, Sam Bryan and Jaidon Anthony saw Leeds hammer Watford 3-0 at Elland Road to round out the top six on goal difference.

Down in the relegation zone, Middlesbrough moved off the foot of the table into 22nd position with a comeback 2-1 home win over Southampton, as Jonny Howson netted a 66th minute winning penalty after Riley McGree cancelled out Adam Armstrong’s opener.

Rotherham consequently slipped into the bottom three in 23rd position but above Sheffield Wednesday as the Owls suffered a 3-0 loss at Swansea, in which Jamal Lowe, Jerry Yates and Charlie Patino’s goals lifted the Swans out of the relegation zone.

Elsewhere, Morgan Whittaker’s hat-trick saw Plymouth Argyle thrash Norwich 6-2 at Home Park, with Dan Scarr, Finn Azaz and Luke Cundle also on the scoresheet for the hosts as Adam Idah struck a late consolatory brace for the Canaries.

Michal Helik’s injury-time equaliser cancelled out Yasin Ayari’s deflected strike as Huddersfield fought back to draw 1-1 at Coventry, which secured the Terriers a point in their first game under new manager – Darren Moore who replaced Neil Warnock at the helm.

Birmingham’s winless run extended to four league matches with a goalless draw against QPR at St Andrew’s, which left the Blues sat tenth in the table.

Finally, West Brom held Millwall to a goalless draw at The Hawthorns as neither team found a breakthrough goal in a scrappy encounter.
